Below are a few of the families that we were able to help either financially or with new roofs from PLTN.

Project Love Thy Neighbor Alert! Please read this and tell me God is not in this!

Last week a young man texted me and said he would like to donate to PLTN. I told him I didn’t have a project at the moment, and he said it didn’t matter to save it and use it when I do. I truly believe it was God using this young man to let me know there was a need coming where I would need to help.

I met with a couple who is in desperate need. They are both 85 years old and are living on a fixed income. A few years ago, the husband had a brain aneurysm, and he has steadily deteriorated. Now his vision is all but gone, and as a result he has been left helpless to even be a part of any decision making, leaving it all to his wife. The wife is not in good health herself, high blood pressure and severe diabetes. I witnessed the effect of her illness, as she stumbled and almost fell due to her sugar level dropping so quickly.

The roof is in such bad shape that the insurance company denied the claim, saying it was due to neglect. The homeowners couldn’t afford to maintain the roof. Even if the insurance had approved the claim, they wouldn’t even be able to afford the deductible. There are leaks in every room, and the husband’s bathroom ceiling is falling down.

When I went in and asked to see the damaged bathroom she broke down in tears because she didn’t want me to see it, she was embarrassed. I hugged her and told her we are here to help, no judgement. I’m not going to lie, my heart broke for her because she has always been such a giver, and now she is just overwhelmed.  They are having to face this financial mountain alone, at 85 years old.
